Vick and Leach Winners of 2010 UK Songwriting Contest

Plan for Peace Wins Christian/Faith Category

Dallas--Singer Songwriter Ross Vick along with Producer and Co-Writer Gary Leach have won the 2010 UK Songwriting Contest's Christian/Faith category.

The UK Songwriting Contest was formed in association with the BRIT Trust and other major music industry organizations. It is held annually with support from some of the biggest names in the UK and international music communities.

"It is an honor to receive this award for achievement in songwriting." Said Vick. "Gary and I really enjoy writing together and this song was one of those moments when the rough idea coalesces into something really special. The song means so many different things to so many different people that it crosses all sorts of lines and perceptions and I think that helps make the song work in many ways. Gary’s arrangement is exquisite and it makes for a very easy song to sing with heartfelt emotion. While I'm not a Christian writer per se I do tend to have a more positive than not outlook on life. And Gary has acheived success with a chart topper on the Christian charts so this is familar territory for him.”

Plan for Peace is featured on the TrueHeart CD “The Road” which included Vick's first Billboard charting song The Road which reached #27 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart.

Lyrics reprinted by permission:

Plan For Peace

His glory
His pain
Of watching his children
Under the strain
His image
Not His plan
Acting out the Lord of the Flies
Nothing more than a Piltdown Man
The things we keep on doing to each other
Brother killing brother
All for some foolish notion
We’d better find the plan for peace and put it in motion
Our story
Our pain
Of watching our children
Dying in vain
Our image
Our plan
Acting like we’ve got nine lives
Instead of the one have
The things we keep on doing to each other
Brother killing brother
All for some foolish notion
We’d better find the plan for peace and put it in motion
If only we forget ourselves and love each other
That would be the step to bring the whole world together
And the things we keep on doing to each other . . .
